The 2016 USA Canoe/Kayak Sprint National Championships continued Friday in Oklahoma City as seven more national titles were decided. Ian Ross won his fifth national title of the event as he held off brother Gavin Ross by just 1.42 seconds in the men’s C1 200m. Kaley Martin added a national title in the women’s C1 200m to her 500m win as she was 21 seconds clear of her closest competitor. Andreea Ghizila and Olivia Crocker topped the podium for the first time in the women’s C2 500m as they were 14 seconds clear.
Alex Lee won his fifth national title of the week, matching Ross, as he took the men’s K1 500m by 2.11 seconds but couldn’t win the men’s K2 200m as that went to Miles Cross-Whiter and Nathaniel Errez who had a 1.02 second margin in the quick race. Samantha Barlow won her third national title as she grabbed the women’s K1 500m by 0.63 seconds and a fourth as she teamed up with Danielle Borm, Leilani Borm, and Kaimi Yoza in the women’s K4 500m. They won that race by 6.44 seconds.
