Rio 2016 – Table Tennis Preview

Table Tennis has been in the Olympics since 1988 with equal men’s and women’s events throughout its history. In Rio it’ll be contested in the Riocentro, an exhibition center from the 70’s in the Barra zone. The US qualified their two men and two women through regional competitions while the teams qualified as the highest ranked country in North America.

The Team:

This year’s team is made up of six athletes, three men and three women. Two of the athletes are returning Olympic veterans from London. The team is fairly young with 28-year-old Jiaqi Zheng the oldest and 16-year-old Kanak Jha the youngest.
