Bobsleigh

Events: There are three US teams in the bobsleigh event and all three will start early on in heat one at 10:15 AM. Team 1 of Elana Meyers and Lauryn Williams start second, team 2 (Jamie Greubel and Aja Evans) start third. The final US team, United States 3, is Jazmine Fenlattor and Lolo Jones starting seventh. The difference in scores from the ski jumping will be converted to times. The ski jumping winner starts the 7 AM cross-country portion first with the rest of the field delayed by the converted time they are behind. First man across the finish line wins.

Short Track Speed Skating

Events: Just two events involving the US in short track on Tuesday. In the women’s 1000 m heats at 4:30 AM there are only two Americans and they begin early. Jessica Smith is in the first heat and Emily Scott is in the second heat. If they finish in the top two of their heat they’ll move into Friday’s quarterfinals.

The men’s 500 m begins Tuesday with the heats at 5:15 AM. This is the final chance for the US men to medal individually. Eddy Alvarez is in the third heat, Jordan Malone in the fifth heat, and J.R. Celski will skate in the seventh heat. If they finish in the top two of their heat they go into the quarterfinals on Friday.

Snowboarding

Events: 39 men will be in the snowboard cross field on Tuesday. With no seeding run we already know the draw for the 1/8 finals beginning at 1:30 AM. Nick Baumgartner is the first American to take to the course as he is in heat one. Alex Deibold goes next for the US in the four-man heat two. Nate Holland and Trevor Jacob are together in the third heat. The top three in all heats move on to the quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals at 1:56 AM (four heats of six) they will be racing again for the top three and a berth in the 2:10 AM semifinals. In the semifinals the top three from each of the two heats will move into the final which will be held at 2:18 AM. As all Americans are in the top half of the draw if they keep moving on there would be two in each of the first two quarterfinals and all four would be in the same semifinal.

  • Men’s Snowboard Cross Quarterfinals – 1:56 AM

TV Coverage: The speed skating will be included in NBCSN’s coverage from 10 AM-12 PM ET and NBC’s daytime coverage from 3-5 PM ET.
